Description
I purchased this BCD396T from HRO locally (Atlanta location) back in the beginning of June. I bought it solely to listen to public services in my area. Well, everything around me has gone encrypted and that totally defeats the purpose of this scanner for me. I absolutely LOVE this rig! I've taken good care of it. Included are the soft nylon case and a tri-band Austin Condor antenna. It has everything that it came with. Manual, box, NiMH batteries, stock antenna, SMA to BNC antenna converter (needed with the Austin Condor), some misc brochures that were in the box, the belt clip (the stock belt clip needs to be removed to use the nylon carrying case), AC Adapter, data cable. For whatever it is worth, the UPC is also still intact on the box. There is NOTHING at all wrong with this scanner!! However, in the fourth photo (where I am holding the "remote" flap open) -- you can see where I did cut out a small plastic piece. I was getting ready to install a discriminator tap (never got remotely that far) -- I just cut the plastic out, and ended up putting everything back together. As you can see in the next photo, the rubber flap completely covers the hole and seals shut as originally designed. Despite this, it is still under warranty. Also not shown in the pictures are the AC power adapter as well as the data cable. The data cable is the one that came with the unit. It is a serial cable, so you MIGHT need a USB to Serial converter.I paid $530 for the radio, $40 for the Austin Condor antenna, and $20 for the carrying case. As you can see in all of the photos, everything has been well taken care of. I have the updated 3.01 firmware installed. To the winning bidder: If you so desire, give me your state and county and I'll program everything you could ever need or want into the scanner. Actually, give me any state/counties that you'd like programmed in. This scanner has plenty of room!Shipping will be by USPS insured ground. If you want it faster, contact me and I'll see what it will cost.I will sell only to the lower-48 USA -- no international bidders, please!! SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY!! Confirmed PayPal ONLY!!Here is the marketing blurb on the Austin Condor antenna:-------------------The "Condor" is a true Multiband design and is a first in flexible antenna technology.Tuned 1/4 wave elements are provided for improved High Band VHF, UHF and 800 /1000 MHz performance. Designed for primary operation on 150-174, 450-512 and 806-896 MHz. The BNC connector is imbedded in the "Condor's" high density urethane housing to stand up to the toughest handling. Pull in the weak signals with "Condor" State of the Art Technology!-------------------I purchased this antenna solely for this scanner. The difference between the stock Uniden antenna (which is included, of course) and the Condor is simply amazing. I live about 45-50 miles north-northeast of Atlanta, GA. With the stock antenna I can SOMETIMES pick up Atlanta police. With the Austin Condor, I can pick up (weakly) Griffin, GA (about 100 miles away). If you do *NOT* want this antenna -- please let me know, take $15 off of the price and I'll GLADLY keep this antenna for use on one of my ham radios.Below is a copy and paste of the specs of this scanner -- if you're looking at this, you are probably already aware of these specs.-------------------TrunkTracker IV (Motorola APCO 25 Digital, Motorola, EDACS, LTR) 6000 Dynamically Allocated channels Close Call™ RF Capture Technology - Instantly tunes to signals from nearby transmitters Fire Tone-Out Alpha Tagging 100 Quick Key System Access Pre-programmed Coverage of Over 400 Cities Continuous Band Coverage* - 25MHz to 1.3GHz Excluding UHF TV and Cellular Compact Size Audio AGC Automatic Digital Threshold Adjustment Search with Scan DCS/CTCSS Rapid Decode - Instantly Detects and Displays the Subaudible Tone So You Can Quickly Determine the System Settings. S.A.M.E. Weather Alert - Specific Area Message Encoding - During a NOAA Weather or Emergency Alert, a code for your specific location will alert you to severe conditions in your immediate area. PC Control/Programming (Free Download) Public Safety Scanner------------Rebanding Update Well, a couple of Motorola Analog systems have now rebanded, so we are hard at work on firmware updates for all our current Trunk Trackers (as well as a couple of older models). These updates will give you the ability to enter custom band plans for 800 MHz Motorola systems, which will allow you to set up the scanner for rebanded systems, whether they are “normal” rebanded systems as are the few that have recently switched over, or “inverted” rebanded systems which use a variation of the channel assignment method. So far, no systems have switched to the inverted type, but we’ll be ready when they do.Hidden Menu Items: These will all be incorporated into the main menu structure. No more keyboard tricks to get to these tweaks. (BCD996T/BCD396T) Close Call DND: I sure wish I had thought of this mode earlier so that we could have included it in the BC246T, BR330T, and BCD396T, but this update takes care of that. Extended Tone-Out Delay: We’re adding the much-requested 30-second option to the Fire Tone-Out Delay feature (BR330T, BCD396T, BCT15, BCD996T) RSSI Reporting Improvements: I’ve been very surprised that none of the software developers have taken advantage of the improvements in RSSI reporting (high speed, 1024 levels of RSSI), but I am hearing some hints that updates are on the way. This would make for a pretty slick band scope feature, and we added it to the PC protocol for the BCD396T and BCD996T with a previous update. This update will extend it to the BC246T, BR330T, and BCT15. EDACS ESK Support: We’ll be adding ESK support to both the BCD396T and the BCD996T. Sorry, no ProVoice (or OpenSky, V-SELP, iDEN…). Improved P25 Automatic Threshold Detection: This update should allow the BCD396T and BCD996T to fully auto-adjust for P25 systems, even if those systems are out of spec for P25 deviation, as we’ve found is the case in a number of areas.-------------------This is a copy and paste from "UPMan" of Uniden. Thank you for looking at my auction, and please give my baby a good home!Note: It will not take me long to program this scanner to your liking. I will ship it out soon as I receive payment.
