Using speaker independent technology, the device is programmed to understand voice prompts spoken in American accented English so that it can serve multiple members of the same household, unlike typical voice activated machines that are designed to work in response to a specific person's speech pattern, requiring intricate voice training. The device is activated by the trigger phrase, "answering machine," and recognizes 15 voice commands such as "play new" or "set volume." The answering machine is capable of storing 60 messages, has a built-in clock that audibly responds to a "tell time" command, and set up only requires connecting the power cord and phone line.
