This was built (by me) from a kit plan and specs supplied by this well known proffesional speaker box designer; http://www.billfitzmaurice.com/Builders.html This is the ”Tuba” HT Folded Horn kit plan, 24” model. This is a large subwoofer! This sub measures 24” wide 36” x 36” and weighs in over 120 lbs. It has been well constructed with void free ½” plywood, 1.25” brads and 4 tubes of HD construction adhesive. It is put together extremely well. The new driver is the renowned Dayton 15” RS5390 High Output woofer. It is rated for 800 watts, 4 ohm and has a rugged aluminum cone with a large 1”rubber roll surround, 20hz~800hz. This sub hits like nothing else you have ever heard!! Being a horn loaded design it will produce very high SPL with unbelievable clarity, much better than Cerwin Vega, Marshal, Peavy and many other name brand types! This sub can be used in a large home system or even in pro bass/ club use. The bass driver can also be changed out should that ever be necessary as well. If you like the great sound of a sub woofer then a horn loaded type is yet a step above that. It is very a very distinct, clean and efficient sound with very little noticeable distortion if any- like you typically will hear with open front firing type subs. While the horn loaded subs are complex to build, they are worth the extra effort in premium bass sound. This would be an excellent sub for advanced DJ uses where you need to impress an audience and fill a room!! The outside of the box has been sanded down and ready for the finish of your choice. The internal area has already been painted black. If you are looking for a professional built, high SPL, rugged subwoofer that will kick you across the room then here it is folks!
