Description
If you are unfamiliar with the $9,000 Audio Research Reference CD-7 vacuum tube CD player, you don't know what you're missing. It has received rave reviews from both the audiophile press and enthusiasts around the world and is widely considered to be one of the two or three finest digital players in the marketplace today. That said, it seems unlikely that anyone is going to spend this kind of money on an unfamiliar piece of electronics that they haven't auditioned, so I will assume most serious buyers already know this outstanding CD player well and concentrate on why you should buy this particular unit. I am one of the owners of Ultra Fidelis, a high-end audio boutique and authorized Audio Research dealer in Milwaukee Wisconsin, and this mint ARC Reference CD-7 is my personal unit. I have owned this piece for not quite a year and a half, but I would estimate that it has only 300-500 hours of use. I ran it continuously during the recommended 200-hour break-in period, but as an analog fanatic, I listen to very little digital music and the CD-7 has received only sporadic play since break-in. This is however the only CD player I have ever owned that I can honestly say comes close to the musicality of my analog front end (SME Model 30.2/ IV.vi with Van den Hul Colibri)....it's just that good. I've decided to part with this player because I am just not using it enough to justify the investment, but it is an extraordinary player for anyone who listens to a lot of digital music. This CD-7 has the silver front face plate (rather than all black) and is in immaculate condition; there are no scuffs, scratchs, discolorations, or blemishes of any kind...it looks exactly as it did the day I unpacked it. I live in a smoke-free, pet-free, and blissfully child-free home. You simply won't find another player in this condition unless it's new and still sealed in the box. Speaking of the box, I have all the original factory packaging and will ship the unit with the vacuum tubes removed and packed in foam. All the original documentation and the owners manual, remote, and heavy duty power cord will also be included. I will ship the CD-7, fully insured, to anywhere in the continental United States at my expense. International deals will be considered, based on feedback and location, but the buyer will be responsible for shipping and insurance. Under no circumstances will I discuss power supply modifications for non-U.S. applications; if you need a 220V product, you're on your own as far as the conversion. Payment can be made by PayPal, wire transfer, or Visa/MasterCard/ Discover. Please check my feedback; it's 100% positive and I have an identical feedback record on Audiogon under my user name "ultrafidelis". I am happy to talk live if you care to reach me at the store during business hours. (414-221-0200) You can also check us out using "ultrafi" and a well-placed three w's and a "com". Thanks for looking and please let me know if you have any questions. Scott Wilson
