Description
RADIO VAN WITH 43 FOOT ANTENNA MAST We have decided to sell our electromagnetic measurements van. It has been outfitted for multiple radio positions and a 42 foot Will-Burt Pneumatic mast capable of lifting a 150 pound payload such as antennas and cameras at 45 feet above the ground. Four 12 volt power pole positions are provided to users, each fused and each with an ammeter to monitor power load to the bank of 12 volt marine batteries. This vehicle is available for inspection prior to bidding. A CD ROM of pictures and all the scanned manuals is available to prospective bidders on request. POTENTIAL APPLICATIONS Television Remote Production Proposed Cellular Telephone Site Measurement and Evaluation Electromagnetic Interference Measurement Amateur Radio Field Operations Emergency Communications and Command and Control This van was built under US Air Force Contract F226008700019 to their specifications for a Mobile Field Interference Investigation Laboratory. It was manufactured by Specialty Vehicle Company and is their Model #SV1856E0012. The van has only 67000 miles and spent most of its life in an Air Force hangar. As a result of indoor storage, it is in excellent overall condition. However, due to its age some things have deteriorated and will need attention from time to time. The carburator was recently rebuilt. It has two brand new tires and two tires in good condition. The base vehicle is a Ford Econoline 350 Quadravan with the famous Ford 351 V8 motor drive train, four wheel drive and an extraordinary 18 inch ground clearance. This version is the stretch van with a 20 inches of additional length to accommodate more payload. This van provides access to sites that low clearance two wheel drive vehicles cannot navigate. You have a first-on-the-scene advantage in demanding fast moving applications or for testing that includes difficult sites. If you are looking for a vehicle to give 4x4 access, a high antenna mast and equipped for installation of radio, TV, Microwave and electronics, this unique van may be what you have been looking for. It is a rugged, MIL-Spec off-road vehicle for your demanding applications. Compare this with even the largest 4x4 SUV of today. This oversize van can pack more equipment and capability for those once in a lifetime events when you can be the first on the scene with all the right things Purchase of this lightly used unit with limited miles leaves room in today's tight budgets for all the extras needed for a fully capable mobile capability. The vehicle has no rust and was rustproofed therefore many years of useful life remain for the user. Although its age may be seen by some as a downside, it leverages on a widely familiar Ford design and the depth of parts for the ongoing upkeep and maintenance. You can walk into almost any auto parts store, ask for a part for the Ford 351 and they will have it. DETAILS: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The van is equipped with two electrical systems. One for the normal engine starting and running. The mission power is for the radio and other equipment in the back of the van. The mission power has a tray for 3 each 12 volt deep cycle marine batteries in parallel. These batteries connect through a positive connect/disconnect connector to a bank of 6 12 volt DC circuits each with 50 amp fuse and a dedicated 50 amp DC ammeter. These circuits supply power to 12 volt mission equipment. Several are connected to Power Pole connectors. One of these circuits powers a 700 watt DC to AC inverters for AC equipment. A 50 amp 12 volt charger is connected to run off of shore power and supply/charge the battery bank. The charger circuit is also provided with a 50 amp DC ammeter to monitor charging current. Another provides for 12 volt interior lighting and for powering the air compressor for the pneumatic mast. Three work surfaces are provided for mission equipment with a 5 ½ long by 2 ft main work area with two shallower work surfaces above that. In addition, equipment shelves provide room for lesser used equipment. PNEUMATIC MAST Will-Burt 41 foot telescoping mast model # TMD-7-42-357/367 Serial # 11634. A 12 volt DC air compressor is installed with the plumbing and valves to provide for the erection and lowering of the mast. The mast rests on top of the battery bank compartment which places the base four feet above the ground. Thus the top of the mast is 45 feet above the ground with up to a 150 pound payload when erected. The Will-Burt Service Manual is provided. Additional information on this 7-42 mast is available from Will-Burt at http://towermast.willburt.com/vmHDLM.asp AIR CONDITIONING The base vehicle is provided with an add-on air conditioner built by ARA and installed by SVC as part of their build-out of the van. It has not been used recently and probably needs refrigerant charging at the very least to make it operational. The ARA installation instructions are provided. In addition, a 120 volt, 13,500 BTU RV air conditioner built by Duo-Therm is installed for use in the back when 120 volt shore power is available. This air conditioner seems to be all there but has not been powered up by the present owners. It probably needs refrigerant charging at the very least to make it operational. A Duo-Therm Service Manual is provided AC Generator The vehicle was provided with a 7 kW gasoline generator. It is a Kohler model 7CMZ21 Low Profile RV generator. Our application did not require this much power and it was not activated and it will probably need to be worked on before using. A compartment for it was build into the right rear of the van. We replaced the generator with a sheet of plywood and used its orginal space for storage. A Kohler Service Manual is provided. DOCUMENTATION Specialty Vehicle Company provided a manual consisting of a loose leaf notebook with individual manuals on many of the systems they installed. In addition, this manual has been scanned and a CD of all these manuals will be provided. We will be happy to provide a copy of the CD to prospective bidders if requested. The original Ford Factory Shop Manuals and the Ford Factory Wiring Manual are supplied. Note that the Ford Factory Wiring Manual does not include the changes made by Specialty Vehicle Company.
